Abstract

This article analyzes the творчество of the prominent Afghan Pashto short story writer Gul Pacho Ulfat, with particular focus on his story “Aql” (“Mind”). Unlike traditional Afghan prose writers, the author reveals human development primarily through internal struggle. Rather than external events, the inner psychological response to reality takes precedence. A number of the writer’s stories stand out for their focus on uncovering such aspects of the human psyche. At the same time, the author enriches the depiction of the character’s inner world through vivid narrative scenes. For a broader analysis, the story is comparatively studied alongside the writer’s work “Nafs” (“Ego/Desire”).
