RELATIONSHIP OF THE CONCEPTS “LANGUAGE PICTURE OF THE WORLD” AND “MENTALITY” IN MODERN LINGUISTICS

Abstract

Each language divides the world in its own way, that is, it has its own way of conceptualizing it, each language has a special picture of the world, and the linguistic personality is obliged to organize the content of the utterance in accordance with this picture. This reveals a specifically human perception of the world, recorded in language.  Language is the most important way of forming and existing human knowledge about the world. Reflecting the objective world in the process of activity, a person records in words the results of knowledge, where the mentality formed.  The totality of this knowledge, imprinted in linguistic form, represents in various concepts a linguistic picture of the world. This article investigates the correlation between the concepts of "linguistic picture of the world" and "mentality" in linguistics. Considering the opinions of many scientists, it is noted that the linguistic picture of the world reflects the national mentality of the people, its history, culture, traditions.
