THE HISTORY OF STUDYING IRANIAN TOPONYMY AND THE CURRENT STATE OF RESEARCH
Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive overview of the history of the study of Iranian toponymy and the current state of research. In modern Iranian studies, there is a need to systematically study geographical names, analyze their transformation, and summarize the work done by world scientists in this field. The study examines the linguistic and historical stages of place names from the ancient period to the Middle Persian, Arabic, and Turkic layers. The scientific views of research centers and scholars are briefly reviewed.
